Lost In The Right Direction is dedicated to showing people living with an illness or disability that travelling is still very much possible. With a few tweaks here and there, and extra planning, life on the road is achievable for anyone.
We hope to give others the tools and confidence to continue living their dream. In late 2021, I was diagnosed with bone cancer in the jaw, severe infections along with failed skin grafts, I found myself fighting my biggest fight. I was left with scars both mentally and physically, scars that remind me, I survived. I was not going to allow my scars & disabilities define me, instead I had to find the strength, courage and confidence to continue living my best life. I had to make sure that cancer was only going to be a chapter in my life, and not the whole story. My name is Silvia, and along with my husband John we love travelling Australia, that was our dream. Through our travels we hope to inspire others that regardless of the type or degree of a disability or illness, everyone is entitled to and can still travel and live the life they had planned. There are two quotes we now live by, both of which inspire us everyday and we hope they inspire you.
- Life Does Not Wait For You To Be Ready &
- If You can DREAM it, you can DO IT!
Happy Travels, Silvia & John.

To be LOST IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION means that .........
YOU EMBRACE THE PRESENT WITH ANY CHALLENGE THAT SHOWS UP IN YOUR PATH.
It means you are able to get out of your comfort zone and find YOUR purpose in LIFE.
If you're wondering why you have the urge to travel, it's likely because you want to break free from your daily routine or take a break from work. While a trip can be thrilling, it's common to feel hesitant. Will I have enough funds? Can I afford to take time off work? Will I miss out on anything while I'm away? What if I get sick? The unpredictability of travel sparks curiosity and spontaneity, but it can also induce fear and cause someone to cancel their trip before it even begins.
However, I encourage you to take a chance. Whether you choose to spin the globe and purchase a ticket to wherever your finger lands, or decide to take that long-awaited dream holiday, I guarantee that your adventure will bring you unexpected surprises that will enrich your life for the better.
The most thrilling aspects of visiting a new place or foreign country are the unfamiliar elements that greet you at every turn of your trip. These elements collectively form a culture that shapes your perception of a place, its people, and their traditions. The true depth of your travel experience emerges when you become acutely aware of your surroundings, a heightened state of awareness that is instilled in every adventurer who embarks on a journey.
As Pico Iyer, a renowned travel writer, once wrote, "Travel is like love... we are mindful, receptive, undimmed by familiarity and ready to be transformed." By keeping an open mind, you can discover the subtle pleasures of traveling that can be found in meeting new people, immersing yourself in a foreign culture, trying new foods, acknowledging culture shock, and embracing the unknown.
Do you remember the last time you went on a trip without using a mobile phone map or travel guide? Hidden gems are meant to be discovered by chance. Sometimes, getting lost can turn into a more exciting adventure than your original plans. These solitary moments while navigating unfamiliar territory and encountering strangers can be uncomfortable.
Instead of feeling lost, try imagining that you are exactly where you are meant to be. Despite the unfamiliar surroundings, you can attune yourself to your innermost thoughts and feelings. These situations can inspire significant personal growth as you challenge yourself socially, physically, and emotionally in new environments. Embrace your free time by allowing yourself to lose your way and dive into the unknown, with the understanding that even if you stumble and fall, you will have an incredible story to tell.
After your journey, you will likely notice that not much has changed back home. However, you yourself will have undergone a tremendous transformation. No words can fully convey the depth of your experiences. Deep inside, you will feel a newfound sense of liberation, as the encounters and adventures of your travels will have molded and improved you. Your new normal will be recognizing that "normal" has different meanings in various places. If you find yourself fascinated by the customs of different cultures, you have embraced the challenge of uncertainty. By acknowledging that there is so much to learn about this vast world, traveling can lead you to continuously get lost in the right direction.
